It's China year here in Cologne, and this weekend its was supposed to be the main event. But it was just awful. A good photo opportunity, yes, but all was massive and most explicit propaganda.

Es ist China-Jahr hier in Köln, und an diesem Wochenende war die Hauptfeier auf dem Domplatz. Aber es war einfach furchtbar. Gut für Fotos, ja, aber alles war massivste und völlig unverhüllte Propaganda.

translation: "serve the folks" - they definitely didn't get the irony.

My thoughts and my sympathies were definitely with the small group of demonstrators in front of the main station - 2 minutes away from the rest.
